Copy-editing
I’ll edit your work to improve the clarity of the writing, making it easier to read and ensuring that the meaning you want to convey is clear.
I can do this at early on in the writing process, after your first draft, or when you are ready to publish.
I’ll suggest ways you can make your writing flow more easily, how you can translate technical language into plain English and make your material more accessible to non-specialists.
Or if it’s a simple proofread you need, I can check your document for errors in spelling, grammar and formatting before publication.
Fiction editing.
I’m a published author, creative writing tutor and competition judge, with experience at editing and proofreading fiction.
The services I offer fall into three categories:
- Developmental editing: A high level edit where I will suggest ways to improve or develop the narrative. This may result in a complete overhaul of the manuscript, structural changes and some rewriting.
- Copy editing: A line-by-line edit, sense-checking, tightening up the copy, looking for any inconsistencies, and generally preparing the manuscript for publication. I might suggest minor changes but this is less interventionist than developmental editing.
- Proofreading: Checking for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting. Making sure the document is ready for publication.
