With just over a month until the launch of my second novel, Heartsound, I’m pleased to report the book is now available to pre-order from my publisher.
Head over to the Inspired Quill website to order a copy ahead of publication next month.
The book is available in paperback and e-book formats.
Launch news
I’m also delighted that the launch at Five Leaves Bookshop on 8th April is fully booked, in fact, it sold out very quickly after the event went live. Thank you so much to everyone who booked tickets.
If you wanted to come but weren’t able to get a ticket, Five Leaves have set up a reserve list in case of cancellations. Email bookshop@fiveleaves.co.uk if you’d like to be put on the waiting list.
Support act
I can now bring more details of the our two guest poets – Jo Weston and Scotty Clark – who will be reading alongside me at the launch.
I chose these two poets because they are local to me, and we all read our work at various distanced events in our neighbourhood during the COVID pandemic.
Heartsound was largely written during lockdown, and the narrative plays out against the backdrop of the global pandemic, so it seemed apt to invite Jo and Scotty to share the platform with me.
Scotty Clark
Scotty is a poet and scriptwriter. His formative years as a writer were as a poet-comedian-compere on the cabaret and comedy circuit in the late ’80s and early ’90s. After this he transitioned to the commercial side as a promoter-agent.
He started to realise poems as standalone short comedic films, before studying Screenwriting at Bournemouth University. In 2012 he produced the award-winning documentary ‘Evidently… John Cooper Clarke’. He devised a sitcom set in a crematorium, and a TV serial set in a homeless hostel, but it is his current project ‘The Robin Hood Scooter Club’ that keeps him awake at night.
Scotty is currently taking part in the Writing East Midlands Momentum mentoring scheme.
Jo Weston
Jo is a poet, writer, and proofreader. Her work has been shortlisted in the Bridport Prize, longlisted in the Mslexia Poetry Competition, and runner-up in the Erbacce Prize.
Jo has been a writer in residence for the Maggies centre in Nottingham and for Writers Victoria in Australia, which was hosted by Melbourne City of Literature.
She has written commissioned poems for Left Lion and IOU, and in 2021, her debut poetry pamphlet ‘How not to multitask’ was published by Wild Pressed Books.
Future events
As not everyone managed to get tickets to the launch, I’m considering some follow up events, including a virtual launch and/or public event alongside other Notts writers. I’ll update this blog once I have dates and details confirmed.
In the meantime, I look forward to seeing some of you on 8th April, and don’t forget, if you’d like to order a copy of Heartsound ahead of publication next month, you can do so using the link below.
